Heresies of Love
by Gene Edward Veith
God is a unity of distinct persons. The one God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So says the doctrine of the Trinity.
Some people believe in the unity and oneness of God, but deny that He consists in different persons. Heretics such as monarchists, modalists, and Arians take this position, as do followers of non-Christian religions, such as Unitarians and Muslims.
Others believe in the different persons but deny their unity in one God. This is the position of heretics such as the tritheists and followers of other non-Christian religions, such as Mormons and polytheists.
February is a time when even the most stoic among us entertains thoughts of love. It's also a great time to express appreciation and caring for those God has placed in our lives. Our wonderful graphic designer has made a template for pop-up Valentine’s cards that you can create with your children. If you are intentional to take the time to do this and deliver them to your friends and neighbors, you will demonstrate to your kids a very practical way that we can be an instrument of God's blessing to those around you whom we frequently take for granted in the midst of our busy lives.
(DADS – taking time to help your kids create cards for their Mommy is a wonderful and easy way to show love and appreciation for her – and set a great example for your kids that they can carry with them into their marriages as well.)
The following devotional was written by one of the students in the Veritas Press Scholars Academy Journalism club. Under the guidance of Lexi Detweiler, members of the Journalism club have produced a student publication that you can view online at http://www.VPSAGriffin.com.
Hope from Despair
Have you ever done something that you regretted? Did you feel ashamed of it? Did it hurt you in the end? I did something like that.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
Free Chocolate with February Order
Everyone has heard of Hershey’s Chocolate and their Kisses. But have you heard of Wilbur Buds? It’s rumored that Milton Hershey copied these delightful morsels in the creation of his kisses. We at Veritas Press pride ourselves in being highly sophisticated connoisseurs of fine chocolate and would like to share the benefit of our experience with you. With book orders of $100 or more in the month of February we will include a box of these delights for the asking. You must ask. When you place your order, simply say, “Please include the chocolates,” or “Give me the chocolate and no one gets hurt,” or something along those lines. (If ordering on the web, type “Chocolates” in the Special Instructions box during checkout.) You may recall this giveaway has been done before and is becoming a bit of a tradition. It was successful both for those of you who took advantage of it and also for the folks working in our warehouse . . . if you know what I mean.
