In a sense, Sunday dinner is a gift. We give it to one another; we pass it on to our children and our children’s children. The roots of this venerable American tradition run deep. This day of rest from work also meant a day of quiet reflection and much-needed restoration, a time for rebuilding energy and renewing strength.
History of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a holiday about family, turkey, pumpkin pie, and history. According to Bede’s History of Me, the first national Thanksgiving holiday was called for in 1777. Click here for more history and a fun activity for little ones!
